How CBD Can Reduce Stress

Find out how CBD can help reduce stress
By Medterra Wellness

Found in hemp plants, CBD (cannabidiol) has shown many potential health benefits. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol)—another cannabinoid found in hemp—CBD does not cause any psychoactive effects, making it even more appealing for people looking for relief during their work day, family events, and more.

One of the main benefits of CBD is that it reduces stress. But how?

It interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system.

The endocannabinoid system is not unlike the digestive system, nervous system, and circulatory system in that it plays an important role in overall health. It’s thought that the endocannabinoid system is responsible for ensuring homeostasis in the body.

Plant made cannabinoids—like CBD—work a lot like the body’s compounds. That ensures that CBD can fit to the endocannabinoid system’s receptors to aid in a lot of bodily functions, like providing calm.

It’s an alternative to drugs.

Some people don’t feel comfortable taking drugs to help find calm. Several studies have shown that CBD might be a great, organic alternative to pharmaceutical options.

The Natural Institute on Drug Abuse (NDIA) asserts that CBD has been shown to reduce stress in animals such as rats. In the study, subjects were shown to have lower behavioral signs of anxiety and even had decreased heart rates.

Other studies have shown that CBD might help with insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety disorder.

All-in-all, a growing body of research points to CBD being a potential game-changer in terms of finding consistent calm without taking pharmaceuticals.

It’s easy to take in various forms…anywhere.

One way CBD reduces stress is that it’s easy to take in various forms. CBD is available in capsules, gummies, oils, and more. Capsules provide a means of taking a measured amount of CBD whenever needed. Gummies are considered a sweeter, funner way to destress. CBD oil can be added to a favorite drink or taken underneath the tongue.

Plus, CBD legal in all 50 states, as the 2018 Farm Bill removed hemp from the Controlled Substances Act. That makes it easy to travel with CBD and even use it to make travel less stressful. There are many ways CBD can people destress, wherever they go.
